- Under the Milky Way - We live half-a-mile up the hill from this bridge. It is known as The Falls Bridge since it spans the gap of Blue Hill Bay and Salt Pond. These two bodies of water produce quite different tidal flows, and hence at times a tidal falls of rapid water. Kayaks often shot the rapids. Surfers can sometimes be seen there...
The Falls originally was settled by two families in the 1760’s who built a mill to harvest the energy of the falls. We live on land that was part of the early tracts, but by Mainiac perspective we will always be “from away”. With the passing of time more mills were established four miles further up the bay, which would become Blue Hill, Maine. The town sits at the foot of Blue Hill Mountain.
